The research aimed at estimating the ability to form a biofilm in in vitro conditions by Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from the degraded natural environment. The research included 71 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from: an oil spill (23), compost (18), a petrol spill from a petrol station (12), a waste dump (12) and sediment obtained from a sewage treatment plant (6). Among 71 strains studied the ability to form a biofilm was detected in 87% strains. The strains isolated from a waste dump showed the highest intensity of a biofilm formation, that is 100%. The lowest degree of a biofilm formation was characteristic of the strains isolated from a petrol spill situated at a petrol station — 67%.
