In years 2004–2010, in the monitored maize plantations the following species of cutworms were caught to pheromone traps: turnip moth (Agrotis segetum Schiff.), heart and dart (Agrotis exclamationis L.), spotted cutworm (Amathes c-nigrum L.) and black cutworm (Agrotis ypsilon Rott.). A species dominating in the catches was A. segetum. The harmfulness of cutworms varied. The highest damage was recorded in Krzeczowice in 2007, where caterpillars damaged 18.5% of plants and 11.0% of cobs, on average. In other years the percentage of damaged plants did not exceed 7.0% on average, while of cobs, 4.5% on average.
