Przedstawiono poziom i zmiany wydatków na rośliny ozdobne w Europie. Przeanalizowano wpływ zmian demograficznych oraz zmian wielkości produktu krajowego brutto na mieszkańca pod względem wielkości potencjalnego popytu na rośliny ozdobne. Określono szacunkową wartość popytu globalnego na rośliny ozdobne w poszczególnych krajach opierając się o wielkość wydatków I mieszkańca na te dobra i liczby ludności w danym kraju.

The aim of this article was the evaluation of cut flowers and plants ’ expenditure level and its changes, the influence of chosen factors on demand, as well as estimation of flowers global demand value in European countries. The analyses made in the article allow to conclude that growth dynamic of expenditures on flowers in countries where GDP per capita is already high will be slower than in those countries, in which GDP per capita is relatively low nowadays, however, it is characterized by fast growth rate. On the other hand, a barrier to demand’s growth might be the slow growth dynamic ofpopulation in the majority of the developed countries, as well as the decrease of population number, especially in relatively poor countries. However, taking into account the fact that countries in which population decreases are minority, on a global scale of Europe this loss of population may be compensated by population increase in the developed countries. This will generate further increase of demand2for flowers.
