Interferon activity in chickens and hens infected with Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV)

Interferon activity in one day old chicks, eight week old chickens, and one year old hens experimentally infected with the NDV was found. It has been stated in hens that interferon, regardless the way of its application (intraperitoneally or intratracheally), protected the birds against the contact infection. A conclusion may be drawn that the interferon spreads throughout the organism.
