Obiektem badań były rośliny kwietnikowe: gaura Lindheimera Gaura lindheimeri 'Corinas Cho¬ice', kocanki ogrodoweXerochrysum bracteatum 'Gold' i werbena ogrodowa Verbena 'Patio Blue'.

Results of numerous studies prove that silicon beneficially affects plant growth, development and resistance to different stress factors. The aim of the work was to determine the effect of silicon, contained in an Actisil preparation that was administered at the beginning of a growing period in a greenhouse, on further plant growth and flowering in the field. The experiments were conduc¬ted in the spring and summer of 2009 and 2010. The following bedding plants were used: gaura Lindheimera Gaura lindheimeri 'Corinas Choice', strawflowers Xerochrysum bracteatum 'Gold' and hybrid vervain Verbena 'Patio Blue'. Plants were sprayed with the Actisil solution of 0.1; 0.2 and 0.3% concentrations, three times in March and planted in mid May in open ground. During the flowering period plant measurements were taken. In each of the examined varieties there was a favorable effect from the Actisil preparation observed in plant growth and development. The sili¬con contained in the fertilizer stimulated the branching of the plants as expressed by the number of lateral shoots, and flowering, as expressed by the number and diameter of inflorescences. The va¬lue of each morphological character depended on the concentration of the Actisil preparation. The impact was more pronounced when a higher concentration was applied. The only exception was gaura, which had a higher number of lateral shoots and inflorescences when plants were sprayed with a 0.2% solution of silicon fertilizer.
