Survey studies performed in Poland in 1954, 1955, 1956 comprise 100049 persons. Coproscopic examinations revealed 269 cases of taeniasis (259°/oooo) due exclusively to Taenia solium and Taenia saginata. The incidence of taeniasis was found to be higher in towns (287°/oooo) than in villages (176°/oooo) this being true for all age groups. Striking is the high incidence of taeniasis both in towns (640°/oooo) and villages (531°/oooo) at the secondary school age (14-17 years).
