Sodium and potassium ions are the most important components of gastric juice, besides hydrogen and chlorine. In this work it was decided to investigate the passage of radioactive sodium (Na²⁴ ) and potassium (K⁴² ) from the blood to the gastric juice of dogs with normal mucosa. Secretion was stimulated by histamine. Isotopes have been used to study this subject in humans by Bernier et al. (2), among others, and in dogs by Cope et al. (3).
