The intensive development of climatological cartography started at the Department of Climatology of the University of Warsaw at the beginning of the 1960s. During the 50 years of its activity the employees of the Department elaborated more than 2200 maps of spatial distribution of various climate elements and of climatic syntheses, as well as topoclimatic and other maps. The present report contains an overview of the maps developed at the Department of Climatology, namely the maps contained in the atlases published by various Polish institutions and important publishing houses, such as Polish Academy of Sciences, Polish Scientific Publishers (PWN), and Polish Cartographic Publishers (PPWK), wall maps published by PPWK, as well as maps contained in several handbooks, encyclopaedias of PWN, in seven out of fourteen volumes of the Atlas of interdependencies of the meteorological and geographic parameters in Poland, in 11 issues of Prace i Studia IG UW (Katedra Klimatologii i Klimatologia), in three volumes of Prace i Studia Geograficzne, and elsewhere. Although the overview of the cartographic work of the employees of the Department of Climatology does not encompass all the maps elaborated (like those made in the framework of the Master's Theses, or published individually by the employees in other journals), it still provides the evidence of the altogether exceptionaily vast cartographic work done.
