Research conducted in 1995–2010 revealed the occurrence of 9 alien species of phytophagous insects and mites on ericaceous ornamental plants in Poland. The presence of alien mites and insect pests in Poland has increased mainly due to intensive trade of ornamental plants from other countries. Most of the alien species originated from the North America: Aculus atlantazalea (Keifer, 1940); Massilieurodes chittendeni (Laing, 1928); Illionoia azaleae Mason, 1925; Illinoia lambersi (MacGillivray, 1960); Graphocephala fennahi Young, 1977; Stephanitis rhododendri Horvath, 1905. Three species, Scirtothrips longipennis Bagnall, 1909; Stephanitis takeyai Drake & Ma, 1955 and Caloptilia azaleella (Brants, 1913) came from Asia, and only one species, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks, 1904) from Sri Lanka.
