The purpose of the study was to determine the tolerance of different forms of runner and common bean to the feeding by the bean weevil. The abundance and mortality of selected developmental stages of the pest insect were studied. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that bean cultivar was a factor that significantly affected the development of Acanthoscelides obtectus. Females of this species laid most eggs on the bean cultivars Jawa and Majorka, but the highest number of offspring was found in the combination with seeds of the cultivars Aura, Felicja and Gazela. The maximum hatching of imagoes of A. obtectus developing on seeds of the analyzed bean cultivars was observed in the sixth week of the experiment. A close relation was observed between a very short duration of the insect development and a higher abundance of the offspring generation. Among the analyzed bean cultivars, the seeds of cv. Korona and Laurina can be said to be the most tolerant to the feedging by A. obtectus. This conclusion was confirmed by a small number of eggs laid by bean weevil females on this bean cultivar and a low abundance of the offspring generation.
