The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of different levels and methods of nitrogen fertilization as well as method of ammonium phosphate application on the healthiness of sugar maize plants considering the sowing date. Sowing delay from third decade of April to third decade of May caused the increased number of plants damaged by frit fly and decrease number of plants damaged by European corn borer, although the effect of that factor depended on the weather course in the years of the research. The level and methods of nitrogen fertilization and the application method of phosphorus did not influence the number of plants damaged by pests and infested diseases.
