The epizootiologic situation of swine trichinellosis in Poland was analized on the basis of data published since 1866, massive trichinoscopy in the time span of 1947-1961 (trichinellae were detected in 23680 pigs out of 106071623, i.e., in 0.235‰) and of special questionnaires collected from individual regions of the country, in the years 1960-1962. It was found that massive trichinoscopy had an influence on the reduction in the percentage of infection in pigs, apart from other factors determining the existence of endemic and almost Trichinella-free areas, such as breeding, geographic conditions etc.
