The paper presents the results of field studies on spatial distribution and intensity of damage of potato tubers caused by wireworms. The larvae of click beetles from the family Elateridae a common pest in potato crops in Poland (locally), especially on those plantations established on grasslands and fallows. The experiments were conducted in 2008–2010 on a private farm in Czarnoszyce (pomorskie voivodeship). The results of performed studies revealed mainly the occurrence of two species from the family Elateridae: Agriotes lineatus and A. obscurus (over 80% of all captured larvae). The distribution of larvae from genus Agriotes spp. was determined by habitat conditions and comparable with the beetles’ distribution. A high level of damage of potato tubers as well as great number of larvae were recorded in those parts of field located in the vicinity of balks and fallows. On the other hand low damage and a smaller number of larvae were stated in the central part of field possibly due to mechanical tillage.
