Our studies were aimed at determination of the effects of increasing copper rates (0, 140, 280 and 420 mg Cu kg-1 soil) on yields of oats, spring rape and field bean and on enzymatic activity of the soil. No effects of copper on yields of all studied crops were observed. Copper application resulted in inhibition of soil enzymes activity and in decrease of biochemical index of potential soil fertility for oats, spring rape and field bean. Application of bacterial inoculum or soil amendment with straw diminished copper toxic effects only in low extent.
