The objective of this research was to develop an efficacious and cost-effective weed control treatment in maize by using a mixture of 2,4-D + fluroxypyr and nicosulfuron applied at low rates with an effective multicomponent adjuvant composed of cationic surfactant, ammonia ions and pH adjuster. Reduced rates of herbicides applied with that adjuvant provided effective broadleaf and grass weed control. Despite of temporary maize injury, the application of herbicides at reduced rates with the multicomponent adjuvant greatly increased grain yield.
