Differential diagnostics of mixed infections with pneumotropic and enterotropic bovine viruses. I. Attempts to prepare and apply a conjugate for parainfluenza-3 and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis viruses
The immunofluorescence test (IFT) was used for differential diagnosis of mixed infections of calf kidney cell microcultures (CKCM) with parainfluenza-3 (PI-3) and infectious bovine rhinotrachetis (IBR) viruses. The diagnosis was based on fluorescence produced by viral antigens under the influence of a labelled mixture of immune sera against PI-3 and IBR viruses. The experiment showed that the early diagnosis of mixed infections with viruses of RNA and DNA groups is possible if the cell cultures are inoculated with different infective doses of viruses. It was also possible to titrate viruses by the IFT basing on the presence of fluorescent foci.
