Ocieplanie się klimatu może przyczynić się do przyspieszenia procesów regeneracji zniekształconych zbiorowisk leśnych w strefie górnej granicy lasu. Migracja gatunków drzewiastych w wyniku sukcesji powyżej tej strefy może aktualnie występować tylko na niewielkim odcinku klimatycznej granicy lasu w zależności od kompleksu czynników klimatycznych i edaficznych.

The length of timber line in polish part of Sudetten and Carpathians is estimated about 260 km. But only 5% of this length there is climatic timber line. The great part of polish timber line was displaced by man into lower altitude. This anthropogenic timber line has not ecoton character, it is rather sharp line which separate Calamagrostio villosae-Piceetum or Plagiothecio-Piceetum from plant communities forming after stands had been destroyed. In Western Bieszczady anthropogenic timber line was fixed by century of agricultural using of this territory and noe is created by beech forests or bush communities (Alnus viridis, Sorbus aucuparia). There is a forecast that the climatic changes will make stronger influence on a fragile ecosystems like area of timber line, but the most distinct effect can concern the climatic timber line (5%). In this case limiting factors like competition of actual existing plants, too low sites trophic for some tree species and high chemical pollution of soil, can occur. Above the area of anthropogenic timber line climatic changes can accelerate forest regeneration. Authors of paper express a view that all activity of man on the area of timber line should be, in polish conditions, still limited to exceptional cases with disaster character.
