The results obtained confirm a high efficiency of Vanquin (up to 95%), in the follow-up examinations 14 days after the completion of therapy. The alarming feature is a rapid recurrence of the disease; it may be due to reinvasion or to the fact that the drug exerts a weaker action on the young forms of the parasite. As long as the reason under lying the recurrence of invasion remains unexplained Vanquin can not be recommended for massive use in isolated child homes. A 10-day therapy with piperazine adipinate in the dosis of 30-60 mg/kg of body weigh daily, twice a year (preferably in autumn and spring) is advocated for combatting enterobiosis in isolated child homes. Indicated is also the treatment of staff and prophilactic use of the drug in all new-coming children.
