The author deals with the deletorious effect of Mallophaga on host with particular reference to breeding animals. The available literature contains scarse information about the action of Mallophaga as parasites and disease transmitters. The fight against them is, nowhere, sufficiently energetic. In author's opinion the losses in the animal production due to Mallophaga may be so serious as to justify a large-scale campaign aimed at the destruction of the parasites. To support her view, the author quotes a number of data concerning Mallophaga parasitism suggesting that fut ure examinations might result in the detection of several diseases transmitted by them. A brief survey of methods efficient against Mallophaga is given.
