Галотановая анестезия служила для определения чувствительности свиней к стрессам. Исследовали поросята пород: крупная белая польская (88 гол.), Дюрок (86 гол.), бельгийский ландрас (84 гол.). Всех животных при достижении возраста 9-10 недель и при массе от 12 до 23 кг и подвергли тесту с галотаном (3,5% галотан и кислород 8 л/мин) У пород крупная белая польская и Дюрок не отмечено ни одного поросёнка с положительной реакцией на галотан. Высокую частоту положительных реагентов установлено у породы бельгийский ландрас (50%), у которой выступает изменьчивость между хрячками (0-84,6%) и пометами (0-100%) в количестве потомства положительно реагирующего на галотан.

Halothane anaesthesia was used for the determination of the sensitivity of pigs to stress. The investigation was carried out on 88 Polish Large White, 86 Duroc, 84 Belgian Landrace pigs at 9-10 week age. The weight of pigs ranged from 12 to 23 kg. Pigs were forced to inhale a mixture of oxygen (8 1/min) and 3.5 % halothane. Tested animals of the Polish Large White and Duroc breeds had not responding individuals. The Belgian Landrace breed responded at a rate of 50% and there was observed the variability between boars (0-84.6 %) and litters (0-100 %) in the number of responding individuals.
