The aim of the study was to present the changes of unemployment amorg rural population in the years 1996-2000, in the areas of two former provinces - Szczecin and Koszalin Province, labeled as West Pomerania. Directions and intensity of mgration processes and their relation to unemployment scale of the population of analys;d area were investigated as well. Finally there was obtained averaged and spatial distibution of unemployment intensity among rural community of West Pomerania that ischarac-terised by dual territorial arrangement. During research work the areas of iitensive increasing of unemployment phenomenon were separated as well. In next par of the work directions of population migration movement were studied. There was (btained spatial distribution of inflow and outflow of population. Regions with migratkn processes that leave permanent trace in the form of growth or drop of population lumber settling or leaving in fact the given rural area were separated as well. The obtaited spatial distribution of migration intensity reflects population flow from regions leing in economic stagnation to developing centres. Moreover areas with the biggest dynamics of unemployment growth overlap areas with highest positive migration effect.
