Choroba refluksowa przełyku (GERD - Gastroesophageal RefluxDisease) jest chorobą przewodu pokarmowego, w której zarówno leczenie farmakologiczne jak i żywieniowe odgrywają znaczącą rolę. Tradycyjne leczenie żywieniowe polega na wykluczeniu z diety produktów tłustych, pikantnych, owoców i soków cytrusowych, pomidorów i przetworów pomidorowych, warzyw cebulowych, czekolady, kawy, naparu z mięty pieprzowej, napojów gazowanych, alkoholu.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a disease of the gastrointestinal tract, in which medical treatment and diet therapy are important. Traditional nutritional therapy excludes from the diet some kind of food like fatty or spicy food, citrus fruits and citrus juices, tomatoes and tomato preserves, vegetables like onion, garlic or leek, chocolate, coffee, peppermint tea, carbonated beverages and alcohol. According to new theory, the effective nutritional treating of GERD is adiet that has a low gut fermentation potential (FP - fermentation potential). A low FP diet limits difficult-to-digest carbohydrates including fructose, lactose, resistant starch, fiber and sugar alcohols.
