One of the major challenges facing the European institutions is to encourage EU governments to cooperate in the field of export and other forms of expansion of domestic companies outside the Single Market. The recommended cooperative action can be — used by the author — a method to identify „good practices" in supporting Member States' companies in their export to the third markets. The aim of the study was to present the Polish Government's solutions for supporting the internationalization of enterprises, which — as a result of the research conducted by the author within the framework of the EU Trade Counselors Working Group in Washington, DC — have been recognized as outstanding practices. An integrated system project „Promotion of Polish economy on international markets, " including the sectoral export promotion programs, has' been recognized as one of the most advanced examples of national marketing strategies. Polish program „Passport to Export" was presented as the innovative practice in the European export promotion system, based on a phase approach, which supports those companies that are most likely to be successful abroad. The conclusions of these studies were used by the author in the design of the phase programs supporting globalization of young Polish technology companies, using the innovative Silicon Valley's ecosystem.
