В статье представлены изменения, какие за последние 80 лет произошли в правовых положениях касающихся качества питьевой воды в США. Сильное общественное давление заставило власти обострить нормы а тоже расширять перечень новых веществ подвергающихся нормированию.

The changes which took place during the last eighty years in the legal regulatins on the quality of drinking water in the USA are presented. A strong social pression forced the authorities to sharpen the standards and to a constant entargement of the list of new substances which undergo standardization.
