Research on cambio- and xylophagous insects conducted at the Forest Experimental Station in Krynica-Zdrój led to the discovery of a new species of longhorn beetle in Polish fauna – Semanotus russicus (F.) (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae). This beetle was bred from a dry branch of Juniperus communis L. obtained in Powroźnik [UTM: DV96]. Four female parasitoids Helcostizus restaurator (F.) (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Cryptinae) were found from the feeding grouns of this beetle. The site in Powroźnik shifts the limit of this species by 250 km to the north-east. So far, the northernmost localites of this species are located near Nove Mesto over the Vahon in Slovakia. Semanotus russicus is the 198th species of longhorn beetle recorded in Poland (K URZAWA 2024) and in the Western Beskid it is the 149th species of beetle from this family (S ZAFRANIEC i in. 2021).
