144 One year old sheep /jarka cygajokent/ in 18 coops /8 sheep each/ were tested. During the test 3 feeding groups /6 coops each/ were separated. The mash was composed of - I - 10%, II - 30%, III - 55% of dried grass and 45%, 25%, 0% of dried maize. One group of sheep was fed to the full while the food of the second group was rationed. The sheep had free access to corn and cole straw, water and salt - lick. There were the following daily weight gains /g/: I - 108, II - 86 and III - 130. The consumption of fodder was related to weight gain. The quality of wool of the tested sheep was high. The digestibility factor of mash was average /62 - 65%/ for organic substances. The balance of nitrogen was positive while the phosphorus was relatively balanced.
