Rabbits of different breeds housed cn 5 farms and suffering from enzootic rhinitis were examined clinically, at necropsy and bacteriologically. In 14 animals a mode­rate to severe atrophy of the turbinate was found in the cross section of the nasal cavity. In four of them a de­viation of the nasal septum was also noticed. Hfstopatho- logical examinations revealed a neutrophilic infiltration in the mucosa and submucosa of the turbinates, an enlar­gement of the mucous glands and an increased number of osteoblasts and osteoclasts in the osseus core. Sixty nine Pasteurella multocida strains were isolated from 39 of 98 rabbits on selective blood media from the nasal or tonsillar swabs. None of the isolates produced the dermonecrotic toxin assessed by the guineapig skin test.
