Różnice odmianowe określone wartościami wyznaczonych wskaźników występują w odniesieniu do bielma woskowatego i okrywy owocowo-nasiennej ziarniaka typu Koński ząb.

The paper presents the results verification of suitability modified Vickers method to show the anatomical diversity within the granuloma of maize Dent type as well as Labor variety. In addition the relationships between values of the parameters characterizing the elastic and plastic properties of test material were determined. The essence of the method was test enabling measurement of the imprint depth in Vickers’s test taking into account the delayed springy reaction of tissue at the point of measurement. The depth of deformation is a measure of the hardness calculated on assumption that the shape of the cavity is mapping of penetrator shape. The ability of accumulation of elastic energy in tested tissue was determined as an important ratio, characterizing the mechanical properties at point of measurement based on energy expenditure recorded in the test cycle. The result of the tests was to determine value of index Wel that characterizing the ability to accumulation of elastic energy in tested tissue as well as its hardness HVR. It was showed statistically significant differences in average values Wel and HVR, primarily in dependence on location of measurement points. The infl uence of the tested material type is less important. It was found that in relation to embryo averages values of HVR are near 10 MPa and in relation to white endosperm 100 MPa. In relation to waxy endosperm and seed coat dispersion has stepped out from 400 to 700 MPa resulting from varietal differences. The averages values of index Wel amounted to 0.15 for the embryo and 0.3 for white endosperm as well as from 0.45 to 0.55 with respect to the waxy endosperm and seed coat suitably. For kernels of the Dent corn type and Labor variety were set trends of value changes Wel and HVR parameters taking into account all the locations of measurement points. The values of coefficients correlation equation of both parameters can be the basis of variety classification.
