The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of nitrification inhibitors (N-Serve and АТС) on the chemical changes of L-aspartic acid and L-glutamic acid and the counts of ammonifying bacteria. The study was performed under laboratory conditions. Flasks of the capacity 50 cm3 were filled with 50 g air-dry light silty loamy sand and L-aspartic acid and L-glutamic acid in the amount that provided 15 mg N per flask. The nitrification inhibitors were applied at two rates: 0 and 2% relative to the quantity of N introduced to soil. The soil moisture was brought up to 60% of capillary water capacity and the soil was then incubated at 25°C. The soil pH and the concentration of N-NH4 and N-NO, in soil were determined on the day when the experiment was established and then after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 18, and 24 days. The results of the experiment have revealed that the nitrification inhibitors disturb partly the process of L-aspartic acid and L-glutamic acid ammonification. They did not modify the counts of ammonifying bacteria.
