Attempts to stimulate cellular immunity in newborn piglets through their mothers

An effect of Biovetadin, a stimulatory preparation, used in pregnant sows, on the number white blood cells, leucograms, percentage of T lymphocytes and NBT-positive granulocytes in newborn piglets was investigated. The results obtained revealed the state of an increased cellular immunity in piglets manifesting itself in the tendency to leucocytosis, shifting the blood picture to young forms of blood cells, increased phagocytic activity of neutrophile granulocytes and enhanced proliferation of T lymphocytes.
