The aim of the paper is to evaluate the competitive position of strawberry producers in changing economic environment in Poland. The research covered many aspects like market demand for strawberry in Poland and in the EU, changes in geographical location of strawberry production in the World as well as foreign trade balance. It was summarised that the most important attributes of the Polish fruit sector are geographical location of Polish production close to the largest markets and relatively low production costs resulting from low labour costs. Both weakness and low competitiveness of Polish fruit sector are caused mainly by such factors as low productivity, poor organisation of distribution and deficient development of producers’ organisations.
