In the article, the results of Polish studies on safety of use of genetically modified (GM) feed materials, employed in animal nutrition, were presented. In the experiments, Roundup Ready (RR) soybean meal, modified for glyphosphate (active ingredient of herbicides) and corn Bt (MON 810), modified for resistance to the European corn borer were examined. The experiments were carried out on broiler chickens, laying hens, fatteners, sows with piglets, cows and young bulls and, in multi-generation study, with rats. The application of GM feed materials had no effect on performance parameters, quality of animal origin products, digestibility of nutrients and metabolic and health status of animals. There was also no negative influence of studied GM soybean meal and corn on metabolic and reproductive indices of rats in six generation study. Transgenic DNA was not detectable in internal organs, blood, muscles, excreta, eggs and milk.
