Autor, uczestnik opisywanych wydarzeń, omawia przemiany jakie dokonywały się w sferze organizacji, problematyki badawczej, kształcenia studentów; przedstawia też losy pracowników Katedry i niektórych absolwentów.

It is an account of the history of the 50 years of the Department of Regional Geography of Warsaw University. Its author and, at the same time, its actor discusses th changes that have taken place in the area of organization, research and teaching. He also provides some information about life and work of the staff and some of the graduates. In the early period, research dealt mainly with the social and economic problems in the world. Since the early 1970s, research and teaching have focused on interrelationships between the natural environment and man, in various regions of the world.
