The aim of the experiment conducted in 2006–2008 in Sahryń (Lublin PROV) was to determine the root damage caused by cutworms and their effect on root yield and its quality of three varieties of sugar beet (Esperanza, Henrike, Lubelska). The evaluation was performed including different postharvest methods of tillage. Different variants of postharvest methods of tillage and variety did not influence the damage caused by cutworms. Damage indicators (i.e. number and share of damaged roots, percentage share of root’s surface damaged by cutworms) were significantly positively correlated with the α-amin nitrogen content and significantly, but negatively, with productivity of sugar.
