In the 2003–2004 the effectiveness of two predatory mites: Zetzellia mali (Stigmaeidae) and Typhlodromus pyri (Phytoseiidae) in controlling phytophagous mites was studied in the neglected apple orchard. The results showed that the number of spider mites and rust mites occurring on the leaves with the predators were low. However, a combination of stigmaeids and phytoseiids was shown to have greater efficacy than either predator alone.
