In Japanese quail embryo filbroblast (JQEF) culture, La Sota strain of NDV induced a substance, which was identified as an interferon. The isolated interferon considerably inhibited the in vitro replication of HVT, strain FC 126, however it did not have a strong effect on virus replication in vaccinated chickens.
