It has been found that digitonin shows wide spectrum of antimycotic activity including yeasts like fungi, yeasts, dermatophytes and moulds. Bacteria (Gram-positive cocci and Gram-negative bacilli) have been resistant to this compound. Combinations of digitonin with Chlorhexidine digluconate and cetrimide have showed synergic activity. The strains of fungi resistant to nystatin have characterized by sensitivity to digitonin. Moreover, the resistance of the studied fungi to digitonin, produce in laboratory conditions, has developed very slowly. It has been showed that the ethanol end lye, containing 0,5 % of digitonin, has characterized by the highest antimycotic activity among six end lyes obtaining during digitonin production. The above investigations direct the possibility of using in practice as well digitonin as end lyes obtaining during its production.
