PL

Chomik europejski Cricetus cricetus został odnotowany w Polsce na 103 stanowiskach rozmieszczonych na wyżynach: Lubelskiej i Małopolskiej, a jego status określono jako gatunek zagrożony w skali kraju (EN – endangered). W dniu 21 maja 2013 roku stwierdzono zajętą norę oraz zarejestrowano za pomocą fotopułapki samca tego gatunku koło Przeciszowa w powiecie oświęcimskim (woj. małopolskie). Odkryte stanowisko znajduje się w 350–400-metrowym pasie upraw rolniczych pomiędzy drogą krajową a torami kolejowymi. Lokalna populacja jest bardzo nieliczna, a jej przetrwanie uzależnione będzie od planów zagospodarowania terenu. Stanowisko to powinno być monitorowane. W 1971 roku w powiecie oświęcimskim znanych było 6 stanowisk tego gryzonia

At present, the European hamster Cricetus cricetus occurs at 103 locations in Poland, situated in the isolated areas of Lublin and Małopolska Uplands, and its status has been defined as endangered in Poland. On the 21st of May 2013, an occupied burrow was found and a male hamster was observed with a camera in the village of Przeciszów, the district of Oświęcim (the Małopolska province). The discovered site is situated within a 350- 400 m wide strip of crops, between the main road and the railway tracks. The local population is small and its survival depends on the land development plans. The site should be monitored. In 1971, in was known 6 locations of this rodent were known in the district of Oświęcim
