The results from the in vitro cultivation of young forms of Ichthyophthirius multifiliis prove the possibility to multiply it in the laboratory conditions. The culture was performed on the properly prepared carp mucus medium, namely by thoroughly drying fresh mucus from the body surface of the fish with subsequent pulverization and pasteurization. The obtained powder in the amount of 0.3 g per 100 ml of filtered tap water constituted an adequate medium for the development of the protozoon, preferable to similarly prepared media using carp organs such as gills, skin, muscles, liver, spleen and kidney.
