The author discusses the problem of intestinal parasites in the north-eastern regions of Poland, basing on the examinations of 1057 inhabitants of the Bielsk Podlaski district (Białystok province). The general result of positive tests (54.6%) as well as of individual parasitic invasions (for instance T. trichiura – 40.3%) and the relatively high percentage established, among the personnel employed in food industry and trade, require praphylactic and therapeutic measures on a large scale.
