„Indeks Ziemi”, sporządzony przez BBC Earth ukazuje, jaki wkład finanso- wy do światowej gospodarki wnosi każdego roku środowisko naturalne. W ten sposób przyroda została po raz pierwszy w historii wprowadzona na parkiet giełdowy. Zyski, jakie przynoszą naszej gospodarce zasoby naturalne, wielokrotnie przewyższają roczne przychody największych światowych korporacji. Straty, jakie ponosimy każdego roku jako efekt degradacji ekosystemów lądowych, sięgają 20 bln $.

The “Earth Index” drawn up for BBC Earth shows the financial contribution brings by natural environment to the global economy. In this way, nature was the first time in the history introduced on the stock exchange. The financial return to our economy from natural assets repeatedly exceeds annual revenues of the world’s largest corporations. Global loss of eco- system services due to land use change is $US 20 trillion/year.
