Ag, As, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Sr, V, Zn and Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn, P, S and Corg. concentrations were determined in sediments taken from the Suwałki region lakes. Average contents were for: arsenie - 8 mg/kg, barium - 107 mg/kg, cadmium – 0,9 mg/kg, cobalt - 4 mg/kg, chromium - 12 mg/kg, copper - 12 mg/kg, mercury - 0,09 mg/kg, nickel - 9 mg/kg, lead - 33 mg/kg, strontium - 81 mg/kg, vanadium - 17 mg/kg and zinc - 82 mg/kg. The regional diversification in concentration of some trace elements in lake sediments was noticed. Increased cobalt, chromium, copper, nickel, vanadium and magnesium concentrations were observed in sediments of lakes situated on boulder clay. Heighten Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, V and Mg contents are caused by lithologic factor – weathering postglacial sediments containing erratics of magmatic and metamorphic rocks which are trace metals source. Raise concentration of Cd, Hg, Pb, Zn and S are connected with anthropogenic factor.
