A material of 10 cases of preinvasive cancer anu of advanced precancerous condition (paratypia epithelli maximi gradus) of the vaginal portion of the uterus in women with trichomonadosis is presented. Antitrichomonal treatment was followed by regression of atypic and paratypic lesions which could be confirmed by histopathologic and cytologic studies. The mean age of the patients under observation was 30.5 years. The observation time ranged from 9 months to 4 years. The authors came to the conclusion that atypic lesions of the vaginal portion in women with trichomonadosis, when occurring early in the life should be regarded as reversible ones. Cytologic and histopathologic examinations are not adequate to establish the kind of atypia when trichomonadosis is a concomitant finding. In such cases, the above given diagnostic methods should be supplemented by cyto- and histochemical examinations. The choice of the management in cases with coexistent preinvasive cancer or precancerous condition and trichomonadosis should be preceded by antitrichomonal therapy and follow-up examinations.
