Observations were conducted on the action of some antibiotics (bihydrostreptomycin and neomycin) and prednisone in the course of trichinellosis in mice. The bihydrostreptomycin was administered intramuscularly, the neomycin and prednisone - orally. Investigations were conducted also in vitro of the action of streptomycin and sigmamycin on the encapsulated in muscles and digested larvae of trichinellae as well as on the mature trichinellae. It was found, that bihydrostreptomycin and neomycin, administered to mice infected with larvae in the course of 14 days following the infection, every day in suitable doses, limit the number of the descendant muscle trichinellae demonstrated in the diaphragm of those animals. Prednisone administered together with the mentioned antibiotics limits to a serious degree their action on trichinellae. Streptomycin in solutions 1:10000 and 1:5000 exhibits a killing action on the digested larvae of trichinellae, but exerts no influence on the encapsulated trichinellae. In the first concentration streptomycin acts also on the mature trichinellae.
