There were investigated 11 red-white calves of both sexes with hereditary corneal clouding. They borned in two herds in Silesia and spring of one sire /phenotypically normal/. Average gestation period nas 273,6±7,9 days, body weight 33,0±6 kg it is standard for this breed. Histopathological research exhibited abnormalities in the cornea only. Bilateral opacity of the cornea nas observed. There was attenuation of the corneal anterior epithelium and evident edema of the stroma. Conective tissus lamellae formed from the collagen fibres nere uncover, wavy, considerable swell, opaque and little PAS positive. Corneal bodies and a single histiocytes also undergoes edema. Edematous lesion in the corneal stroma was both latent edema /oedema occultum/ and open edema /oedema manifestum/ in character. No evidence of inflammation was observed. It may be accepted hypothesis, presented abnormality is simple, autosomal and recessive.
