The aim of presented studies was to assess the effectiveness of insecticide containing flonicamid (pyridinecarboxamide group) as an active substance against Brevicoryne brassice on white head cabbage. Field experiments were carried out at the Research Institute of Vegetable Crops in Skierniewice and a farm belonging to horticultural college in Powiercie in 2009–2010. In the years 2009–2010 in Research Institute of Vegetable Crops in Skierniewice and on the farm belonging to horticultural college in Powiercie were carried out the field experiments on the effectiveness of insecticide containing as an active ingredient – flonicamid, derived from the pyridinecarboxamide group. Flonicamid has a systematic and translaminar activity and gives very good long-term efficiency against pests. This insecticide was used to control B. brassicae on white cabbage at two doses: 0.14 and 0.16 kg/ha and at dose 0.14 kg/ha with adjuvants: Olejan 85 (1.5 l/ha) and Superam 10 AL (50 ml/100 l spraying liquid). Pirimor 500 WG at the dose rate 0.3 kg/ha, was used as a standard compound. Spraying liquids were applied once, when the first aphid colonies were observed on white cabbage plants. The flonicamid used at the doses 0.14 and 0.16 kg/ha showed a very good effectiveness in the brassica plants protection against cabbage aphid. Addition adjuvants did not significantly affect the increase of the efficiency of the studied insecticide.
