The hermit beetle Osmoderma eremita s.l. was first observed in the palace park in the town of Niedźwiedź in the autumn of 2008. Its larvae were found in the rotting linden wood that had been cut, chipped, and removed. These larvae were then transported to an artificial habitat which resulted in releasing 6 females and 4 males in the summer of 2010. Altogether, about a dozen beetles were observed in 2008-2013, in the park in Niedźwiedź, while a few dozen grubs were transported from cut trees to artificial habitats around Niedźwiedź. At that time, two linden trees, one maple tree, one poplar tree, and one sycamore gray tree were cut down in the park for various reasons. Despite the clear decrease in the number of hermit beetle habitats in the palace park in Niedźwiedź, there is a realistic hope for maintaining the population, as long as the cutting of trees is ceased, which serve as habitats or a substitute of those habitats.
