Rebuilding the lost position of rural co-operative movement in the national economy is possible only when the local community, primarily farmers, can see rational management of cooperative enterprises, positive economic and financial results and through their membership will have influence upon the co-operative's activities. On the basis of surveys conducted among farmers, both co-operative members and non-members, the Author presents the strengths and weaknesses, benefits and chance for co-operative viability as perceived by the surveyed farmers.
