The aim of this work is to present chosen institutional solutions driving at improvement of social and economic situations within problematic rural areas. As crisis-inducing regional structures are recognised in Poland these areas which have inappropriate agrarian structure in agriculture. Problematic areas are characterised by a low level of economic development, weak dynamics of socio-economic development and characterised by appearance of negative social results. The essential influence on the current level of Poland's economic development and sources of its different economic positions in these areas are based on historical events. Since the beginning of the 90s development of Polish agriculture and rural areas, has been reorganised by a new institutional system. These institutions of country and agriculture surroundings were requirements of market economy and connected market mechanism. The article stated that effectiveness in the institutional support for agriculture and rural areas' development depends, in the initial period, on the way it is promoted on rural areas.
