In laboratory conditions, tests with discs of Chinese cabbage leaves and with winter oilseed rape seedlings upon the effectiveness of selected chemicals in reducing damage to plants caused by Arion rufus slugs were made. The positive results were obtained with abamectin – active substance of commercial plant production product – Vertigo 018 EC (0.18%) and water extract from Sapindus mukorossi. These active substances acted as a deterrent and antifeedant to slugs and caused reduction in their feeding and damage to plants. Both substances might be potentially used in plant protection against slugs.
